I feel like blogging has become somewhat of a business rather than a hobby, and while I fully approve of bloggers (or creators of any kind, really) being compensated for their work, it sometimes feels like a mad scramble to be the next big thing everyone wants to throw their money at. The pressure to follow the “formula” for success, trying to follow well-meaning advice like “pick a niche and stick to it” or “post every single day to keep engagement high” honestly takes all of the fun out of it for me, not unlike the way social media took the fun out of creating and posting art…

So fuck that. I’m tired of measuring my success based on how much I earn from something.

I’m going to make a blog that I like posting to, and if you like to read it, then great! And if you don’t, then there’s no hard feelings because (and I mean this in the nicest way possible,) I didn’t make this blog for you.

I did it for myself, and that alone motivates me more than any financial incentive ever could.
